1. PAD MEASUREMENTPads are always measured at the widest point of the pad.
Use a ruler with millimeter marks and measure the pad across the surface at the widest point. It's that simple.
Measuring in this manner is the easiest way to proceed. In doing this, you are assuming that the previous installer put the correct size of pad into the instrument.
2. MEASURING PAD CUPSIf you would prefer to measure the pad cup, you will need to measure to the INSIDE of the pad cup except for the three small pads on your flute. Measure these three pads to the outer edge as these three should fit more like clarinet or piccolo pads.
SIZESAll measurements should be taken to the closest 1/2 millimeter measurement. Always round down if you are not sure.
